Context:
Walmart México, also known as Walmex, is Walmart’s largest division outside the U.S. had approached DGMAX Interactive to help with their customer acquisition efforts for the holiday season. They needed us to drive new customer sales on a cost per action basis where they would only pay for sales generated specifically from our traffic sources .
Challenge:
- Client would not directly place any tags on their website and we would have to utilize Rakuten Marketing’s Linkshare dashboard in order to view conversion date.
- No simple webhook / s2s enabled within linkshare where we can easily place tags for this campaign.
- Track conversion data in our TUNE dashboard in order to enable traffic partners and account managers to visualize all relevant conversion metrics.
Solution:
- Create a developer account on the linkshare developer portal in order to access the api .
- Utilize a digital ocean droplet to host all relevant files and scripts for this project.
- Create a recurring process to connect Tune and Linkshare apis in order to synch conversions between the two systems respecting the rate limits of each systems apis.
Results
Using open source solutions I enabled our sales and account managers to view their partners conversions information in our native dashboard without accessing any other dashboard. Traffic partners were able to then access TUNE’s api in order to fetch their information or simply by logging into their dashboard. The holiday campaign was a success as we were able to generate over 900 sales in Q4 and retained the client for a long term relationship .
